Visiting Hours:

  • The Santa Clarita Sheriff Station is staffed by over 200 deputies, and they are responsible for patrolling the areas of Santa Clarita such as: Valencia, Saugus, Newhall, Castaic, Stevenson Ranch, Val Verde, Canyon Country, Acton, Agua Dulce, Parts of the Angeles National Forest, Gorman, Neenach, Mint Canyon, Hasley Canyon, Sleepy Valley, Fair Oaks Ranch, Sand Canyon, Bouquet Canyon, and Six Flags Magic Mountain.

  • When a person is arrested and taken into custody in Santa Clarita, they will be transported to the Santa Clarita Jail located on Magic Mountain Parkway for booking and processing into the system. The station has 11 jail cells and is capable of temporarily housing up to 40 inmates.

  • The booking process generally consists of taking the arrestees fingerprints, photographs, conducting a nationwide background check or “Live Scan” and entering them into the system. This can take from 2 to 6 hours or more depending upon the defendant’s individual situation.

  • Male arrestees will be transported to the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Facility, and women will be transported to the Lynwood Jail or (CRDF).

  • Attorneys, bail bondsmen and members of the clergy may visit at any time for as long as they like.

  • IMPORTANT: After about 12 to 24 hours, the arrestee/inmate will be transferred to another jail. This transfer usually leads to a longer time in Jail, resulting in anywhere from 12-24 hours as additional paperwork is conducted. To avoid the extra jail time, we always recommend that the bail bond process should be initiated as soon as possible, so the defendant can avoid the transfer process altogether.

Visiting Procedures:

  • None.

Telephone Access & Mail:

  • During booking, the person being held in jail may be allowed to make three (3) free telephone calls. Once booked, an arrestee may make one collect telephone call from the Jail per day if the officer in charge allows. Because most inmates will be held at the Jail for no more than 24 hours, inmates should not be sent mail.

Personal Property:

  • Any time after arrest, an arrestee/inmate may authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property has been entered into evidence. If property has been entered as evidence, it will not be available for release until after the criminal case is concluded.
