Visiting Hours:

  • The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement services to the City of Palmdale by contract. Located in the center of north Los Angeles County, the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail temporarily houses both male and female arrestees and trustee inmate workers (inmates who are serving out their sentences at the Jail).

  • The Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail ("Jail") may hold an arrestee up to 96 hours, if the arrest falls on a holiday and/or weekend, before an arrestee must appear in court. You may visit a non-trustee inmate worker at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail Monday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You may visit a trustee inmate worker on Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Attorneys, bail bondsmen and members of the clergy may visit at any time for as long as they like.

  • IMPORTANT: After about 24 to 48 hours, the arrestee/inmate will be transferred to another jail. This transfer usually leads to a longer time in Jail, resulting in anywhere from 12-24 hours as additional paperwork is conducted. To avoid the extra jail time, we always recommend that the bail bond process should be initiated as soon as possible, so the defendant can avoid the transfer process altogether.

Visiting Procedures:

  • The Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail has a stated policy regarding inmate visitation which may vary depending upon the activity occurring at the Jail when you plan to visit. Therefore, you should always contact the Jail before visiting.

  • Non-trustee inmate workers are permitted one 15 minute visit per day. Although all inmates are limited to two (2) visitors during a visitation, all visits with non-trustee inmate workers are by video phone. Parents are urged to use their discretion when bringing a child to visit an inmate at the Jail. A child will be counted as a visitor unless the child can be seated on a lap. School age children, like adults, should be prepared to produce a valid photo ID.

  • Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail. Acceptable forms of ID include:

    • California Identification Card

    • Driver's License (any state)

    • U.S. Military Identification

    • Passport/Visa

    • Mexican Consulate Card

    • Permanent Resident Card

    • Valid School Identification Card or Birth Certificate (if visitor is a minor).

  • Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number of reasons. Persons on probation and/or parole should contact the Palmdale Sheriff Station Captain at 661-272-2400 to request permission to visit an inmate at the Jail. Persons with outstanding warrants should not visit the Jail as they may be arrested.

Telephone Access & Mail:

  • During booking, the person being held at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail may make at least three (3) free long distance or local telephone calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in messages, but once housed, inmates may make unlimited collect telephone calls.

  • Since arrestees will not be housed for more than 48 hours, excluding holidays and weekends, at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail, you should avoid sending a non-trustee inmate worker mail at the Jail.

Personal Property:

  • Any time after arrest, an arrestee/inmate may authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property has been entered into evidence. If property has been entered as evidence, it will not be available for release until after the criminal case is concluded.
